You do all realise that the US version came after and that the basic premise and storylines have been copied right. Without Gervais and the other writers there would be no US Office which is good but still inferior to the original.

Another point, why watch the Uk episodes if you don't enjoy them? Both versions have their fans but seeing as the original was aired almost 7 years ago in the UK, most who followed the original series like me regard it as one of the best comedies of recent years with the US version basically being a copy with different actors. End of.

The secretary is better looking, but I like the character selection over all for the American version (just as the black dude, stiff Christian lady, etc). I would say both are pretty darn'd funny, each in their own different way. I guess I find the American version a bit more funny, but I reckon that's purely because I live in Australia I get exposed to American humour more.

Yes the American version is a copy of the UK version and i completely give the UK version its due cuz without them we could never have the American one but to me the American is soo much better. It just has better energy and the characters are more colorful and in-depth.

The British version hands down better than the US copies. US versions are dumbed down, less edgy, less balls. I like the US version too but they don't come close to the classic originals! The Americans always have to go for the cheesy happy endings too.

The American one is a dumbed down version of the British one. The plots are spelt out clearer and there is far less subtlety. It just proves that eveyone knows Americans are stupid! Why else would they take a sledgehammer to the delicate suggestions which make the office so funny in the first place?!

This show doesn't hold a candle to the American version. Yes, the American version is based on the u.k. version but it is superior. There is a reason why American movies are distributed all over the world and are successful where as british movies bomb at the box offices in other countries. Case in point the u.k. version lasted two seasons where as the American version is on season five and still going strong.

The UK version is by far the funnier of the two (bring the original). The characters in the UK Office are spot on in terms of casting. The US version feels a little forced and scripted (like the hideously perdictable FRIENDS). The US version has taken something that worked very well in the UK and simply tailored for the US market. OK just to negate the stereotypes, i am an american and i love the US version of the office...never missed an episode however, the UK version is hillarious to me also... i felt like out of respect for the creators i should at least watch the pilot of the UK version and now i am a fan of both.. different flag same colors i guess :)

I really love both versions. The US The Office is very like the original in the beginning, but as it goes on it comes into it's own more and is more of an interpretation of the original and less of a copy. As far as cross-over shows go, both versions are incredible.

I bet all those who prefer the us version are from America or are exposed to American tv alot. The UK version is so freaking hilarious and much better than the us version by far. The US version is ok but American humour is so cheesy and played out, the UK version is more edgy and less fake. There is a reason why this great comedy masterpiece originated from the UK!
